The past few months have seen an almost instantaneous change in how healthcare providers deliver their services. With new rules surrounding social distancing and personal protection, we’ve seen an overhaul in how services across the sector operate.
At CQC Compliance, we are also adapting to these changes. Whether it be offering video call assisted Inspection Support and Compliance Audits, helping Telemedicine Clinics and other services register with the CQC or improving Infection Prevention and Control – our services are evolving alongside the change in circumstances.
The CQC has released a new report detailing how healthcare providers have altered their services to acclimatise to the restrictions implemented in response to COVID-19. Here at CQC Compliance, we have been astonished at the ingenuity and resourcefulness of service providers across the board. We thought we’d share some of the most inventive examples here:
GP Dr Rachel Buckley has been utilising video calls in order to carry out virtual ward rounds to two care homes. In doing this, she was able to see every patient registered on the practice list while also speaking with her patient’s next of kin – reassuring them that their loved ones were being cared for.
Care at Home in Wearside has been using other technology to take baseline observations of its clients. This has meant that hospital admissions from the service have dropped, as the team has been able to identify early signs of infection, monitoring temperatures and vital signs.
Confier Lodge, part of the Huntercombe Group, is a service for men with learning disabilities. As their clients often enjoyed a pint together, their local pub donated items to create their own pub while observing social distancing guidelines.
CQC Chief Executive Ian Trenholm said: “These examples illustrate the tremendous resilience and imagination of health and care providers and their teams. We are sharing these so providers can quickly learn from each other about what they can do now and consider whether innovations brought about by a crisis could help shape services in the future.”
At CQC Compliance, we’ve been supporting clients across our whole suite of services throughout this period, adapting our services where necessary within government guidelines. If you require any support or guidance with any of our services, please get in touch.
